Welcome to my web site. All of the paintings you will see here were created in my Lummi Island, WA studio where I have lived for the past 20 years. Only accessible by a 10 minute ferry ride, Lummi Island hosts Open Studio Tours on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. You can also contact me to make an appointment (see my contact page). I grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Syracuse University in upstate New York. Years followed living in Iowa City, Iowa, and Salt Lake City, Utah (where I received my Master of Fine Arts degree in Drawing and painting). Wherever I have lived, be it the mountains and red rock desert of Utah or the coastal forested lands of the Pacific Northwest, the luminous spirit of the natural world has spoken to me. My medium of choice is watercolor. It has completely captured my attention and fascination. At its heart is the elemental nature of water. To understand watercolor is to know that it must move, responding intimately to surface and gravity. The medium challenges an artist’s innate desire to control, and redefines the meaning of “failure.” Ultimately one must make friends with the unpredictable. On this site you will find an archival slideshow of past paintings, as well as recent paintings available for sale. Please see my contact page to make inquiries. |
